Footing Construction

With the excavation complete, it was time to start setting up forms for the footings of the structure. The first outer ring established the orientation and dimensions for everything to follow.

Then, we started the inner ring

Finally, all of the footing forming was done, including some interior footings that are part of the load bearing structure. The large rectangular section in the middle is the base for the telescope pier, which will be physically isolated from the rest of the structure.

Beneath the base for the telescope pier are 5 piles drilled 10 feet down, with the corners drilled at 30 degree angles to help reduce any tendency for the telescope pier to tilt. Rebar structures like the one shown below were constructed to reinforce each of the 5 piles.

Here is the structure tying in the rebar in each of the piles with that of the connecting pad and telescope pier itself.

And here is a view of the footings completed, with rebar laid out in the telescope pier and footings themselves.
